Description

19-03: Bolted Structural Connections in Fiberglass Materials Energy EvaluationThis paper compares several methods of connecting fiberglass reinforced pultruded plastic (FRP) structural members to tubular sections using bolted designs that are commonly used in the cooling tower industry. The study compares theoretically predicted values with full scale actual laboratory test results.

The paper has been presented before and reviewed by the Cooling Tower Institute and approved as a valuable contribution to cooling tower literature

providing criteria to determine the best approach for future operation of cooling water systems in the absence of gaseous chlorine

It will present the mathematical procedure used to analyze the data

The flexible coupling has been recently introduced after completing laboratory testing

Operating variable such as cycles of concentration and pH of recirculating cooling water and the acceptable level of corrosion inhibitors are important factors to be considered

as amended

A new electrolytic process has been developed which overcomes these problems and shows additional advantages over the old type process actual operating data is presented along with an economic evaluation of the new process

Examples will be used to illustrate design failures

I am very pleased to be attending the annual conference of the Cooling Tower Institute

you may have been associated with the pulp and paper or textile industries where many tons of ClO2 are generated and consumed on-site each day

The recycle and reuse of waste and process water streams can turn potential environmental problem discharge streams into beneficial cooling tower make-up streams

Case Examples will be presented as well as implemented repair programs focused on this approach
