with subtle grape notes
Italian plums can be eaten fresh
given we have only been growing it for a few years
with buds capable of withstanding -40°F or colder
and more disease-prone cherry climates
but not as bulletproof as the hardiest prairie selections
it could be grown in the best microclimates (up on a bench/out of frost pooling zones) within the warmest Montana Valleys west of the divide: Bitterroot
it will benefit from cross-pollination with another cherry variety
Most Asian–American hybrid plums benefit from cross-pollination with another compatible hybrid plum blooming at the same time
