Saville Form of R. maddenii Web SpecialsPerfumed flowers that should be bottled and named. This form of the species R. maddenii came to me as the 'Saville' form. It has won Best Fragrant rhododendron at our local Rhododendron Chapter Flower Show more than once. The plant will grow quite large, but can be pruned to keep smaller. The flowers are quite long, five lobed, and trumpet shaped. They are white with a yellow throat and pink of the back sides. The leaves are a shiny medium green and

bell shaped in clusters of 6-10

putting the plant up for a closer view to the observer

We like to plant this form and the lime green form 'Elegans Aurea' in group plantings for wonderful contrast
